Employee Spotlight: Randy Redd

Posted on November 11, 2016

Concept One co-owner Randy Redd is a mechanical engineer and has been designing all the pulley systems and other parts for Concept One since starting the company with his brother Kevin in 2001. After graduating with a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology with a Manufacturing Option, from Southern College of Technology (now Kennesaw State University) in 1995 Randy came back to Cumming to work in the family business. After years of working in the restoration business with their dad Kevin and Randy knew there was a market for making parts for hot rods and muscle cars. Kevin had received his CNC certification from Lanier Tech and he and one of his instructors bought some equipment and were starting to make a...

1969 Chevy Camaro

Posted on August 2, 2016

Introducing, a new project car that we are keeping tabs on….the 1969 Chevy Camaro being done by none other than Darryl Redd. That name might sound familiar because he’s the father of Concept One Pulley System’s co-founders, Kevin and Randy Redd. Darryl has been around cars his whole life. In 1980 when his boys were still young, the family owned a full-service Amoco station in Cumming, Georgia. Kevin and Randy were pumping gas before they could drive a car. The station eventually turned into a Goodyear Tire & Service and in 1991 Darryl and his wife Jean opened American Classics Restoration, specializing in Corvettes. One of many special cars that they restored was a rare 1955 Corvette that earned several...

Project Update: 69 El Camino

Posted on June 7, 2016

Since we last checked in we’ve been waiting for all our brake parts to come in, but we finally have everything. We finished fitting the rear brake calipers and rotors and then fabricated custom brackets for the parking brake cables and the hoses that go to the calipers. We had to test the parking brake in ride position as well as all the way up to make sure our new brackets allowed enough clearance. After a little spot welding on our custom brackets the brakes are ready to go! Time to take it all apart and get it ready to go off to powder coating.

El Camino Update

Posted on January 27, 2016

A little update on our project car – the 1969 El Camino. The photo gallery shows what we’ve done over the last few months starting with returning from the paint shop and right now we are fitting the motor mounts and coil over shocks. We’ve had to drill some holes to mount the shocks and we are getting ready to run the fuel line. Once we get everything fitted then we can take it apart and send the frame to be bead blasted and powder coated.
